What asbestos removal in Sydney actually involves

Before a licensed job starts

SafeWork NSW's minimum is five calendar days' notice from the removalist before licensed work begins. The licence holder then gives notice of the work and its start date to you, the occupier, the owner and the immediate neighbours, and puts up asbestos warning signs. Inside the City of Sydney there is a second, separate requirement: the developer must notify every neighbour on an adjoining or opposite property in writing, with the date and time of removal, the licensed removalist's name and a site contact.

After the work

A clearance inspection and certificate come before anyone moves back in, from a licensed asbestos assessor for Class A work or a competent person for Class B work. Keep the certificate with the disposal receipt. The disposal page covers where the waste can go.
